Who we are
Upstate Radon Mitigation is an Upstate South Carolina radon mitigation and testing service. We help homeowners find out what their radon level is, fix it when it needs fixing, and confirm the fix worked.
The Upstate has more reason than most of South Carolina to take radon seriously. Greenville County is the only county in the state that the EPA rates Zone 1, and the state's own test data shows averages near or above the EPA action level in parts of the region. We focus on this area so we can respond quickly and know the local housing, from slab ranches to crawl space homes to older houses with basements.
How we work
Four standards we hold on every job.
Honest testing
We give you the real number and what it means. If your level is low, we say so. If it is borderline, we lay out the options, including retesting, without pressure.
Clear quotes
Every estimate is free and in writing, with the system type, pipe route, fan location, price and time estimate spelled out before work begins.
Tidy installs
Straight, supported pipe runs, sealed penetrations, labeled components and a clean work area when we leave.
Post-install test
Every system we install gets a radon test after it is running, started at least 24 hours after the fan turns on, so you can see the result.
What we handle
We cover the full range of residential radon work: radon testing, sub-slab depressurization for slab and basement homes, crawl space radon mitigation, radon in well water, testing and installs during a home sale, repairs and fan replacement on existing systems, and radon systems for new construction. Typical prices are on our cost guide.
Where we work
We serve homeowners in Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Pickens and Oconee counties, including Greenville, Greer, Simpsonville, Mauldin, Spartanburg, Anderson, Easley, Clemson and Seneca. See the full list on our service areas page.
How to choose a radon mitigation company
South Carolina does not issue a state license for radon professionals, so it pays to ask a few questions before you hire anyone, including us.
- Ask about certification. Look for NRPP (National Radon Proficiency Program) or AARST credentials, which show training in recognized radon standards. We are happy to share the credentials of the technician assigned to your job.
- Ask how they will diagnose your home. A good installer checks how suction moves under your slab or membrane before deciding how many suction points you need.
- Get the plan in writing. Pipe route, fan location, price and timing should all be in your quote.
- Ask about the post-install test. You should get a test result after the system is running to confirm levels came down.
- Look at where the fan goes. The fan should sit outside the living space, and the pipe should vent above the roofline.
